The first match ended scoreless and it was another close affair in the first 45 minutes as both sides failed to find an opening.

The home side had a great chance to make the breakthrough on 17 minutes with Whites' goalkeeper Ryan McBride stranded following a mix-up, but Ashley McDermott directed his effort wide of the gaping goal.

At the other end a chance for the visitors fell to Matthew Holden after keeper Matthew Quinn failed to hold a shot from Kris Pike, but the shot was blocked.

The first goal was always going to be crucial in this tie and it fell to the Championship One visitors when Stephen Doyle set up Daniel Wright just on the hour mark and he fired a left foot shot into the net.

Tommy Kincaid's side added a second on 78 minutes from Glenn Upton and any hopes the PSNI had finally disappeared when Peter Steele was sent off for a second bookable offence.

The Whites will take on Queen's on 8 February.

In the rest of the fifth round replays Armagh City play Ards, Ballinamallard United face Strabane Athletic Ballymena take on HW Welders and Cliftonville travel to Coleraine.

The games all kick off at 7.45pm on Tuesday.
