The goals came from Ciaran McGinley, Matthew Donnelly, two from PJ Lavery and a penalty from Peter Harte.

Tyrone manager Mickey Harte said he was pleased with his team's performance.

He said: "At this stage in the season it is all about your own team and the opposition is secondary.

"You want to see how the team perform, how they gel together and how the players are connecting with each other and we connected very well in the first half."

He added: "It can be hard sometimes to carry on from a good first half.

"The team can take its eye off the ball and allow the other side a way back.

"But we were able to put ourselves in a position to not be under pressure and get the scores that matter and when the goals come, as they did for us, it is hard for any team to come back."

I won't be making excuses, it was an extremely disappointing performance and as manager I have to take responsibility.

Armagh boss, Paul Grimley

Armagh manager, Paul Grimley added: "It's a poor place on the sidelines when you are faced with a defeat like that.

"I will be looking at what went wrong, why it went wrong and how I can put it right.

"We have a fortnight before the league campaign starts and we have a lot of work to do.

"The only consolation we is that this happened in January, in the McKenna Cup, which is a pre-season friendly, and we have time to put it right."

Elsewhere, Derry beat St Mary's by 1-17 to 14 points.

There were also wins for Donegal, Monaghan and Antrim on Wednesday.

Tyrone will now face Derry at Healy Park in the semi finals this Sunday, while Cavan will play Monaghan at Bewster Park.
