It meant more bad news for the club, with Tommy Bowe also sidelined for several weeks due to significant ligament damage to his knee.
The 10-9 Heineken Cup defeat to Saints at Ravenhill brought Ulster's 13-game winning streak to an end on Saturday night.
However they are looking for an immediate response against Leinster in the Pro 12 on Friday.
Iain Henderson said: "Well obviously we were disappointed with the loss but I think we did a lot of things well.
"Handling errors maybe killed us and maybe inconsistent set pieces but if you had of said to us before, or said to a lot of fans before the back to back fixture 'would you have taken six points?' - they might have taken it.
"But I think we should be happy with the six points that we got and should concentrate coming into these Rabo Pro games."
Nick Williams meanwhile said this week's game is a chance to "put things right".
He continued: "I think we got something to prove, and I guess Leinster do as well after losing at the weekend, but the one thing we do have is that we're playing at home and we really want to put the wrong things right and a way to do it is at Ravenhill on Friday night."
Ulster are expected to name their team for the game on Wednesday.
