Aimee needed to place in the top 12 places in her final two World Cup qualifying events to book her ticket to the Games in Sochi.

The 22-year old claimed eleventh and fifth - and was promptly named in the Great Britain's squad of 56 for the Games.

"It's not really sunk in yet, I've not even had a chance to sit down, so I'm just kind of riding on this high of excitement at the minute," she told UTV.

It was down to the last two events for her to book her place, after a series of injuries last year left her unable to compete in earlier qualifiers.

"I knew once I'd made it to the finals, I'd made it into the top six, so the relief and excitement, I could just enjoy myself," she said.

"I can't believe I've done it still."

The young talent was born in England and now lives in Bangor.

Her packed schedule means she has barely stopped between qualifiers and competing in the X Games - and on Thursday she flies out for the Games which begin on 7 February.

Aimee said her "realistic" ambition is to secure a top five place.

"You've got 24 of the best female snowboarders in the world but those girls I travel with year round on other tours, they're some of my best friends so I'm really excited to just go there and lap up the experience and opportunity and have a good time," she said.

"Obviously I want to go there and do the best I possibly can, I've got a few ideas of different run combos, so it's all about getting something solid and clean to the feet and then hopefully I can experiment with my second run and really step it up."
