Leigh Salters netted twice as the defending champions racked up an 8-3 win, with the first coming after just nine minutes on the ice.

The Giants replied with efforts from Craig Peacock and one from Calvin Elfring to take the score to 5-3, before the home side added a further three unanswered goals.

The result moves Nottingham to within seven points of Belfast at the top of the Elite League table with three games in hand.

The Giants have ended their tough run of eight away fixtures in a row though and are next in action back at home in the Odyssey Arena against the Edinburgh Capitals on Saturday.

They lost out to the Scottish side 5-3 last time the sides met, meaning Belfast will be out for revenge.
