Ulster Rugby has confirmed that Tommy Bowe will not be ready to play in this weekend's PRO12 game at Treviso.

Management had hoped that he could have featured against the Italian side this Sunday, but the winger has been suffering with a groin problem since December and will not be playing.

Assistant coach Jonny Bell told UTV: "Tommy is coming on well. He is not available this weekend but he is running in some sessions with us again, obviously very controlled and non-contact situations but yes he is coming on well and he has got a much more positive frame of mind.

"He is being well looked after by the medical staff so yes we are obviously keen to get him back as soon as we can but it is important that he is right and we don't rush him."

Despite the setback, player Roger Wilson remains confident ahead of the clash at Stadio Comunale di Monigo.

"You look back at the season we've played them three times already," he said.

"Results wise we have won pretty comfortably but I think the score line hasn't really suggested the work that has gone into beating them.

"It is always a difficult place to go and play and more often than not, you don't get the winning until about 60 or 70 minutes and obviously this time with having a slightly more depleted squad we have been in previously, it is going to be tougher I think."
