The fixture represents the most winnable of their first three matches in Group F, following Friday's 2-0 defeat in Russia and ahead of a tricky away trip to Portugal next month.
Luxembourg took a surprised lead in their Group F opener against Portugal before losing 2-1 last week.
"Like any of the home games, it presents an opportunity for us to get three points. As I say that's our aim. We'll be very focused; the lads are very focused obviously since coming back from the game on Friday night and it's a chance for us to get three points," O'Neill said.
We're under no illusions that it will be a difficult game.

Northern Ireland captain Steven Davis also hopes the side can inject some momentum into their World Cup bid.
"We're just looking forward to the game and hopefully we get a positive result and kick-start the campaign," he said.
"International football is getting harder and harder, the gaps are closing, but it's one we're looking to get three points from.
"Home games will have a big say in how the campaign goes for us.
"We're hoping we can have a lot of possession and then it's what we can do with it to create chances. It's up to us to dictate the tempo of the play."

Shane Ferguson has joined up with the squad after missing Friday's qualifier away to Russia as a result of a groin injury.
Lee Camp has withdrawn from the squad for personal reasons. Goalkeeper Trevor Carson has been called up.
