Lafferty and Davis - along with Jamie Ness, Steven Naismith and Steven Whittaker - have all found new clubs after refusing to have their contracts transferred to newco Rangers.

But with Rangers seeking compensation, the Scottish FA will not authorise the moves.

FIFA are expected to grant temporary registrations while they rule on the matter.

Davis has signed for Southampton, while Lafferty has gone to Swiss club Sion.

Ness has been picked up by Stoke City, Naismith by Everton and Whittaker by Norwich.

Six more players could also be affected, having also refused to transfer to the newco Rangers but having yet to sign for another club.
