The 32-year-old forward will pull on the teal jersey of the Giants for the first time in four years after helping the Belfast organisation to the Playoff Championship in 2010.
Highlights from his previous season in Belfast include scoring the vital winning goal in a penalty shootout Playoff Semi-Final win against the Nottingham Panthers in Nottingham.
During Szwez's 2009-10 season with the Giants, he was regarded by many as the most influential player in the Elite League which was backed up with 45 goals and 25 assists good for 70 points in 54 games played.
Belfast Giants General Manager Todd Kelman announced the return of Szwez at Thursday night's fan event in W5 at the Odyssey.
"The signing of Jeffrey Szwez speaks for itself. I believe he was a huge reason why we won the Playoff Championship in 2010 and he becomes a very important final piece in our plans for the season.
"Szwez is big, strong, good in the corners and is used to playing at a higher level that the Elite League. He is an incredibly fierce competitor and will put the puck in the net for the Giants this season.
"Szwez will be a leader on the ice for us as well as a firm fan favourite and I am excited to get him back in a Giants jersey and onto the Odyssey Arena ice against Bolzano next Saturday and Sunday."
