The visitors looked solid in the early stages but it was Daniel Hughes who went close with a shot straight at James McGrath.

Warrenpoint took the lead when Stephen Hughes linked up with brother Daniel, to score from the edge of the box.

Glenavon had chances to draw level from Guy Bates and Brian McCaul but they had to wait until the second half to get back into the game.

Player/manager Gary Hamilton brought himself and scored to set up a grandstand finish.

The winning goal had a touch of good fortune about it, but Glenavon did not complain when a stand-in keeper Blaine Parr tripped and Bates grabbed the goal which moves Glenavon ahead of Ballymena.

We're not sure what Bulletproof Wings are, but apparently Warren Feeney has a pair. If this week's results are anything to by, he might just need them.
