Mark Garside scrambled the first goal home after nine minutes for the champions, before Adam Keefe added another in the second period.

A third goal came in the third period when man of the match Darryl Lloyd streaked behind the Steelers defence and fired past goalie John DeCaro.

The visitors notched up a consolation goal thanks to Tylor Michel but it was too little too late.

Belfast Giants secure second spot in the Elite League with the result, behind the Nottingham Panthers who won 5-0 away to Braehead Clan.
