Belfast Giants Coach Paul Adey has admitted Tuesday night's defeat was a "tough one" after the Nottingham Panthers were crowned 2014 Challenge Cup winners.

The Panthers won the second leg game 5-1, making the score 7-6 on aggregate against the Giants.

The crucial deciding goal was scored by Nottingham's Petr Kalus in a penalty shootout as the game ended six apiece after overtime.

"I didn't think we played that bad tonight," Adey said after the game.

"I just don't think we were clinical and we had our chances, we needed one more goal really - it would have killed the game.

"It was one of those nights, but I thought with our performance we deserved more than what we got."

He said the Giants would now dust themselves off and concentrate on the playoffs this weekend.
