The Belfast Giants suffered a disappointing home defeat to Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League on Saturday night, ending a five-match winning streak.

The Steelers were 4-1 winners over the Giants at the Odyssey Arena, with goals from Steven Goertzen and Jeff Legue putting them in control in the second period.

The Steelers made it 3-0 through Ashley Tait before Daymen Rycroft netted the sole Giants' response with 1.16 left.

The Giants pulled their keeper and Simon Ferguson made it 4-1.

The Steelers team featured Scott Champagne who recently moved from the Giants. The win moved Sheffield clear in third place.

Leaders Nottingham Panthers remain four points clear at the top of the table.
