The result further cements the Giants' position at the top of both the Elite League and the Challenge Cup Group A.
The home side opened strongly and it fell to defenceman Sam Roberts to net the first goal of the night, before Greg Stewart extended their lead.
While the Capitals looked stronger in the second period, more Belfast goals were still to come with Noah Clarke, Darryl Lloyd, Mark Garside and Jeff Mason all getting their name on the scoresheet.
And there was no let up for the Edinburgh side, as their hosts continued to pile on the pressure in the third period.
Craig Peacock added to the Giants' tally, before Clarke and Lloyd each added another goal as well to make it 9-nil.
Only then could the Capitals manage a reply which prevented the home side from keeping a clean sheet, with Peter Holecko the sole scorer for Edinburgh.
The demolition job came after the Giants travelled to Dundee on Friday on take on the Stars and claimed a 5-2 away win.
The Belfast team were then joined on the ferry home by their Saturday night opponents but, while the Giants can now look ahead to their next game, it will be the Capitals going home disappointed.
