Scottish forward Mark Garside opened the scoring at 4.48 and the lead was doubled within minutes when Craig Peacock converted on a powerplay.
A third goal came on 7.41 through Darryl Lloyd as the Giants extended their lead going into the intermission.
Strikes from Davey Phillips and Colin Shields completed the scoring for the Elite League champions - they keep up pace with leaders Nottingham Panthers who stayed on top of the table this weekend with an 8-3 victory over Coventry Blaze.
"Last night we didn't compete, it's as simple as that - we didn't play to the best of our ability," coach Doug Christiansen told UTV after the game.
"We have to keep winning games to put pressure on Nottingham but the reality is our destiny is in our own hands.
"I'm definitely happier with the defensive side of things. I would have liked to tap in a few more but we got the job done and we move forward to next weekend."
