Goals from Jeffrey Szwez, Kevin Phillips, Craig Peacock and Chris Higgins gave the Giants the points ahead of Tuesday's vital league game against the Nottingham Panthers.
The opening goal came from Jeffery Swez in the third minute and Kevin Phillips got his second of the season a minute later.
The Giants added a third through Craig Peacock just after 10 minutes.
The Stars pulled one back early in the second period through Nico Sacchetti.
However, the visitors restored their three-goal lead with a goal from Chris Higgins on the half hour mark.
Despite a number of chances being created by both teams in the third period neither side could find the net.
The win sees the Giants move onto 12 points after seven games meaning they have secured top spot in the Challenge Cup Group A and will face the Hull Stingrays in the Challenge Cup Quarter Finals, following Hull's fourth place finish in Group B.
The Giants and Stingrays also met at the quarter final stage of last season's Challenge Cup with Belfast advancing to the semi finals thanks to a 7-2 aggregate win.
The teams will face-off home and away with the winner decided on aggregate score. The dates of the quarter-final ties will be released in due course.
