Stephen Lowry scored the dramatic late winner two minutes into extra time after the Blues had come back from 2-0 down.
Coleraine got off to a great start with quick fire goals from Darren Boyce and Curtis Allen in the 14th and 15th minute.
Michael Carvill pulled one back for Linfield when he curled a free kick into the net from 20 yards, after Jamie Mulgrew was brought down.
The reigning champions started the second half well with a chance for Mark McAllister which rebounded to Peter Thompson, who fired over.
Linfield dominated and the pressure paid off after 88 minutes when Ryan Henderson scored from close range from a Niall Quinn free kick.
They pushed for a winner but left the home side with a chance to break and Stephen Lowry took full advantage to give Coleraine all three points.
The result leaves Linfield languishing in eighth in the Irish Premiership while the Bannsiders move into second spot behind Cliftonville.
