Hugo Cazáres may have been struggling to meet his weight target a day ahead of his big bout with Belfast's Carl Frampton - which will earn one of them a shot at the super-bantamweight world title.

The Odyssey Arena is expected to be packed out for Friday night's fight, but there was also plenty of support at the weigh-in on Thursday.

Frampton was set to meet his opponent face-to-face for the final time before stepping into the ring, but Cazáres kept him waiting as he ran 10 minutes late in arriving.

"I think he's just struggling a bit with the weight," Frampton told UTV Sport.

"It's probably a bit easier to get the weight off in Mexico. It's probably around 40 degrees in Mexico at the minute. It's not 40 degrees here, so I think he struggled a little bit, but who doesn't?"

Ahead of the fight, Frampton is already full of praise for his dedicated following, given the support they showed at the weigh-in alone.

"It's great that there's an atmosphere like that just for a weigh-in. Some fighters and fights don't get atmospheres like that," he said.

"I'm very privileged that the people have come out on a Thursday afternoon as well. Half of them probably should be in work, but it's all good as long as they're here!"

Local boxing fans are backing the Tiger's Bay man to go all the way to a world title and he's full of confidence that he can deliver.

"I know when I beat this guy the feeling after winning is going to be amazing, because I'll be standing in the ring as a winner knowing that I'm going to be fighting for a world title after it," Frampton said.

Meanwhile, his manager Barry McGuigan is feeling equally confident, firmly giving UTV one simple message: "Frampton will win."
