Jerry Wallace's side made a decent start but a well-drilled Limerick team went into the break 10 points to the good.
"We played well for around 10 minutes but then a few decisions went against us and we were up against a very good Limerick side," said the Antrim manager.
"But I said to the boys afterwards that this has been a positive National League campaign and we are still in what is a very tough division next season."
Antrim had come back from the same deficit in the previous week's game with Laois but this time there was no way back.
Shane McNaughton's free in the 12th minute put Antrim 0-5 to 0-4 up but that was as good as it got.
Two Shane Dowling goals from frees helped the Shannonsiders into a 2-12 to 0-8 interval lead.
When Sean Tobin found the net midway through the second half Limerick led 3-17 to 0-10.
From that point onwards Antrim outscored their opponents but the game was already well out of their reach.
Several members of the Loughgeil all Ireland winning squad returned to the Antrim panel and goalkeeper DD Quinn was the pick of the bunch.
He stopped at least four goalbound shots and without his heroics the Saffrons could have suffered an even heavier defeat.
