The collision happened on the Ballymena Road at about 9.40am on Monday.
The young child and two women, aged 25 and 54, are being treated in hospital.
According to police, their conditions are not clear at this stage.
A 27-year-old man, who was also in the car, received non-life threatening injuries.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the other vehicle, received facial injuries.
Ballyclare Alliance councillor Pat McCudden said his thoughts were with all those involved.
"This stretch of road has a long history of shocking accidents and this latest accident highlights the dangers of our roads and underlines the importance of road safety," he said.
"I would urge all those on the road to be aware of other road users."
