A Dungannon woman has appealed to thieves who robbed her home to return two rings belonging to her late husband who died four years ago.

Catherine Gillespie's home was burgled last week when she was attending a hospital appointment as she suffers from MS.

Several pieces of jewellery, a TV and her children's iPad were stolen during a break-in at the family home.

Catherine had intended to give her late husband Darren's rings to her two young children when they are older.

"When my husband died, the youngest was only six months and the oldest was three, now they're seven and four," she told UTV.

"The oldest has even indicated to me what ring she would like when she is older, so it's very important that it's returned."

Her family contacted UTV after a grieving mother had stolen jewellery belonging to her late daughter returned to her after an appeal.

She added: "The other items I'm not too worried about, it's just my husband's rings."

Catherine has been left fearing for her safety in her own home and she is wary about a holiday she had booked as thieves took the details with them when they raided the house.

"Obviously they know that the house will be vacant," she explained.

"You think your home is a safe place to be and when somebody can just break in and enter your house and remove what is most precious to you, it's very annoying."
