The blustery conditions across counties Antrim, Down and Londonderry will continue overnight into Monday morning, bringing some large waves to coastal areas.

A bright start on Sunday with a scattering of showers was followed by cloudier conditions in the afternoon, with some more general showery rain arriving in the north by late afternoon.

The strengthening north-westerly winds are due to reach gale force in the north later in the day and will be very gusty in the east.

"The public should be aware of possible minor disruption, particularly to transport and of the risks to those engaged in outdoor activities," a MET Office spokesperson said.

Due to the forecasted adverse weather conditions P&O Express sailings between Larne and Troon have been cancelled. Passengers booked to sail on Sunday should contact P&O before travelling to Cairnryan Port.

Jason , sorry, I thought when you mentioned all the weather conditions in a line there, you ment all in one day. Yes Northern Ireland weather is fantastic, even the weather forcasters cant keep up with the weather here... and they are the experts. Me, I just look out my window and decide what its gonna do next.

Variety is the spice of life and that is what I love about Northern Ireland weather. I would not leave Northern Ireland even if I won millions on the lottery. The weather is so diverse here and one of the reasons why I like NI so much as the weather could be sunny, wet, windy, cold, snowy, hot and heat wave within a few weeks. There are also a few surprises with a few weather systems being mixed together to give a good cocktail in weather. I would hate to live in hot countries near the equator 25C is hard enough to cope with and I could not live in areas close to arctic or Antarctic cold conditions -5C is hard enough to cope with in the cold times. NI weather is the best in my opinion.
