An ice bucket challenge with a difference took place in Belfast city centre on Saturday evening when a street of independent retailers joined in on the craze sweeping the world.

Treat Boutique, better known for their cupcakes and traybakes, teamed up with businesses at Wellington Place to create a chain reaction of bucket tipping along the busy thoroughfare.

Brave employees of restaurants Maze and Home were drenched in ice cold water as were volunteers from clothes stores Rio Brazil and Red Groomswear, and Pronuptia Bridal to name but a few.

The ice bucket craze has been raising awareness and funds for charities, including neurodegenerative illness ALS in the USA and Macmillan Cancer Support in the UK.
