Michelle Lowery from Ballynahinch told UTV that her "heart is broken" after the suicide of 20-year-old Natasha last month.

"Never in a million a years did I ever think I'd lose any of my kids, never," she said.

Less than a week after the grief-stricken family had laid her to rest, opportunists broke into Natasha's house on Hillfoot Crescent, which is not far away from the family home and a stole some of her favourite belongings including her jewellery.

"It's disgusting how somebody, obviously somebody who knew the house was empty and I just couldn't get over them taking the child's jewellery, it was for her close friends and I can't even give them that now," Michelle explained.

Michelle is appealing to the thieves to return her daughter's precious possessions.

She added: "Even if they left it at my front door in the middle of the night or in a chapel or left it somewhere where somebody could find it, at least I'd have her stuff back."

The burglary took place sometime between 8pm on Tuesday 6 May and 1.55pm on Wednesday 7 May.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Ballymena on the new non-emergency number 101.

This is one of the most disrespectful, disgraceful things I've seen. Do the people involved not have any empathy towards a grieving family losing their beautiful daughter so unexpectedly. Hope they get what's coming to them the scum!
