The storms which have battered the Co Down coast in recent days have caused a large hole to form on one road in Ballyhalbert.

A section of the A2 Shore Road has collapsed forcing traffic to be diverted and sections of the road to be cordoned off as work to make the area safe continues.

However that hasn't proved easy with high tides on Wednesday afternoon causing more huge waves to crash over the coastal town.

Residents said it was not unusual and that the area is plagued with problems when the weather is stormy, but they described the holes on a busy route as a worrying development.
