The green Mazda was reported in the Beechmount Street area on Sunday at around 11.55pm.

It is believed that a large group of youths were in the area at the time.

The car was later set alight in the area and the youths were believed to have made off towards the Clowney Street area.

The car is thought to have been stolen from the Inverary Drive area in the east of the city shortly before 11.20pm.

Police enquiries are continuing and they are appealing for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area to contact them at Woodbourne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.

The law needs to stop pussy footing around these louts. If over 18 throw them in jail for years .No more 're educating' them==they don't want to know!! If under 18 hit their parents in the pocket== make them pay the value of the car and compensation to the owner. If they're on the dole and can't 'afford' to pay in cash then they join the over 18 year olds in jail.
