Police are appealing for information following report of a sexual assault on a woman in Carryduff, Co Down.

The incident happened on the Ballynahinch Road area last Friday at around 9.05pm, when the woman left a shop and walked towards her car.

She saw four males standing beside a dark-coloured car, possibly a BMW or Mercedes.

One of the males approached her and started talking. She walked on and got into her car however before she could lock the door, the male got into the vehicle and sexually assaulted her before getting back out of the car.

The culprit is described as being in his late 20s or early 30s and of medium build with light shaven hair.

He is described as being about 5ft 7ins in height with a scar on his left cheek.

He was wearing a cream-coloured polo shirt, dark trousers and a gold wedding ring with a blue tattoo underneath it.

Police are investigating and would appeal to anyone who was in the area and noticed any suspicious activity or anyone with information to contact them at Castlereagh police station on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
