Thousands of people across Northern Ireland have taken part in the last main day of the Loyal Orders' marching season.

Around 17,000 members of the Royal Black Institution took part in parades on Saturday.

Events took place in Armagh, Londonderry, Ballyclare and Larne in Co Antrim, and Donemana, Co Tyrone.

The largest demonstration was held in Rathfriland, Co Down, which last played host to the event in 2001.

A total of 106 preceptories took part in the main Co Down procession, accompanied by 80 bands.

Deeko I agree the parades, and not just RBP, are getting bigger each year but this just doesn't standup to the accusation of "themuns are eroding are kulture" that been tossed about by certain people to suit their own agenda. A recent Queens study also states that there are more parades than ever before, 96% of them pass off as planned and there are more bands than ever before which also doesn't match up to the above accusation. Methinks someone's lying to the people they represent. Perhaps the same people should stop buying it hook, line and sinker.

@John in Not The Cerregan I'm pretty sure you would go on and on and on.Give it a rest or find yourself a hobby.A life spent whinging is a life wasted. But just to put things in context if you want to whinge about lack of money for essential things then whinge at the politicians who let the banks run wild with our money and used us as collateral but still spend billions on wars in which the banks fund both sides.Your not stupid John you know if all the parades stopped we would all still be denied the essentials even though there is more than enough in the governments vaults to pay for it so stop playing up to the bigoted stereotype, it does neither you or anyone else any justice.

No money for health, plenty of money to police parades? No money for university expansion in Derry, plenty of money to police parades. I could go on & on
