The 19-year-old victim was parking his Volkswagen Polo at a car park at Donegall Quay when three young men approached him and forced him out of the vehicle.

Police said the estimated ages of the attempted hijackers were 14, 16 and 20.

A scuffle ensued as the gang tried to take the man's car keys from him - he suffered a stab wound to the forearm before breaking free and running off.

He was later taken to hospital for treatment.

Police said the youngest suspect was 5'4" tall, of thin build, with ginger hair, and was wearing a black coloured coat. The next oldest was 5'6" tall and medium build and wore a dark jacket with a grey coloured hooded top underneath and grey tracksuit bottoms.

The third, described as being in his early 20s, was 5'6" tall and of medium build. He was wearing a navy jacket with a navy hooded top underneath.

Anyone with information on the incident, which happened at around 7.50pm on Tuesday, has been asked to get in touch with the PSNI.
