A man suffered a cut to his head after a brick came through his window while he was driving along the Newtownards Road at about 9.20pm on Monday.
Before that, at around 7.20pm, a number of stones, fireworks and paint bombs were thrown in the area of Duke Street and Bryson Street. Police said no damage was caused.
A crowd gathered on the Newtownards Road at 10.45pm and threw stones and fireworks.
A passing bus had two of its windows smashed but there were no injuries.
Police said they maintained a presence in the area for "a number of hours" afterwards.
They said: "There were no further reports of any incidents."
