The incident happened at Great Victoria Street train station at around 2.40pm.
Emergency crews from the fire and ambulance services attended the scene which disrupted trains on the Bangor line for an hour.
A spokeswoman for Northern Ireland Railways described the incident as a "minor accident" and said the man was taken to hospital as a "precautionary measure as he had lost some blood".
She added: "Platform four at Great Victoria Street train station was closed for approximately one hour due to an incident involving a male passenger.
"Emergency services attended the scene and the passenger was taken to hospital as a precautionary measure.
"Some Bangor line services were impacted by the platform closure."
