Emergency crews were called to the derelict site in the Limavady Road area at around 8.10pm on Sunday.
They said the blaze, which started in portacabins, took more than six hours to deal with, but was fully extinguished by the early hours of Monday.
Four fire engines - two from Crescent Link Fire Station and two from Northland Fire Station - as well as an aerial appliance, attended.
A report from the NIFRS read: "Fire Crews dealt with a deliberate fire in a pre-fabricated building approx 25m x 25m.
"The incident was dealt with at 02.37am."
Police have appealed for anyone with information on the suspicious fire to contact them.
