In the first incident, a 19-year-old man was attacked by a gang on Eglinton Lane at 12.30am when he suffered a cut to his lip and had his football top stolen.

A short time later a number of men attacked a 24-year-old man in the same area and stole his mobile phone, leaving him with swelling to the side of his face.

Police arrested two men aged 22 and 25. They were interviewed and later released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Anyone with more information has been asked to contact the PSNI.

He must have been wearing one of those new England football shirts. At £90 each they're bound to attract thieves.
