Fire breaks out at carpet store

More than 40 firefighters have tackled a fire at a retail park in east Belfast.

The fire started at the Carpetright store, beside Connswater Shopping Centre, shortly before 2pm Saturday, causing heavy smoke logging of adjacent premises.A total of 11 fire engines, including two specialist aerial appliances, were needed to bring the well-developed fire under control.A NIFRS spokesperson said there were no reports of any injuries.Extensive damage was caused to the outlet and smoke damage was caused to adjacent units.Police are working to establish the cause of the fire and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.Firefighters tackle the blaze in east Belfast— Conor Shanley (@Conor_utv) June 7, 2014
