District Judge Barney McElholm was told on Wednesday the row took place inside and outside the salon at the city's Springtown Industrial Estate on 21 February this year.
Parents of two Brian Murphy, 32, from Ardnashee and Una McClean, 35, from Culmore Point, have since separated.
Both failed to attend court for the sentencing during which their solicitor Walter Hegarty said they were admitting a charge of disorderly behaviour.
Mr Hegarty said the incident occurred during "relationship problems" between the couple which "came to an ugly head at the hairdressing salon".
The District Judge described the couple's behaviour and language during the row as vulgar, disgraceful and outrageous. He fined Murphy £600 and fined McClean £300.
