Tributes to fatal cliff fall boy

A Ballycastle school principal has told UTV that the young boy who died after falling from a cliff on the Co Antrim coast had "a great zest for life".

Logan Crawford, who was seven and lived locally, was reported missing on Sunday evening.He was last seen playing with friends near cliffs close to the Silvercliffs Caravan Park in the seaside town.A major search and rescue operation, involving two RNLI lifeboats, the police helicopter and a helicopter from RAF Prestwick, was triggered after the alarm was raised.The Belfast Coastguard said the boy was found at the base of a set of cliffs in the area before he was airlifted to the Causeway Hospital in Coleraine.He later died as a result of his injuries, police said.Logan, who had two younger brothers, was a primary three pupil at Ballycastle Integrated Primary.The school's principal Diana Evans expressed her sincere sympathies to the Crawford family.She told UTV that the child had a great zest for life.Logan was a wonderful wee boy.Diana Evans, school principal"He just loved learning and he soaked up everything around the school," she said."He was very popular in his class and very popular with the staff as well."She continued: "Logan will be really very much missed by all of his class, Primary Three, and by the whole school."A special assembly took place in school earlier on Monday.A statement from the North Eastern Education and Library Board also paid tribute to the child.It read: "The Board deeply regrets the very sad and tragic death of seven-year-old Logan Crawford, who was a pupil at Ballycastle Integrated Primary School"."Our thoughts and prayers are extended to the family circle at this very sad time.""The Board's critical incident team are in place at the school, providing counselling support to pupils and staff".SDLP Ballycastle councillor Donal Cunningham said: "This is absolutely heartbreaking news and my heart goes out to the little boy's family and friends."It is a terrible tragedy, and I know the entire area will be deeply saddened at the devastating news of such an untimely death of a young child."My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones at this very sad time."Police have appealed for anyone with information in relation the incident to contact investigating officers.
