Boy, 8, dies in quad crash

An eight-year-old boy has died in a quad bike crash in Co Clare.

Ultan Hayes and his 41-year-old father were travelling on the quad when it hit a stone wall in Whitegate, in north-east Clare, on Thursday night.
The young boy was taken to Limerick Regional Hospital with serious injuries and later transferred to Temple Street Children's Hospital in Dublin where he passed away on Friday.
His father's injuries are not thought to be serious.
No other vehicle was involved in the collision.
Gardai investigating the incident said that the boy's death is being treated as a tragic accident.
A post mortem is due to take place later.
