A memo was handed out to Teletech employees on Wednesday stating that the company had not been awarded the ongoing service contract with Nissan Europe.

The contract has instead been awarded to B2S, which is based in France. The customer service jobs are due to be transferred to the new company from 14 May.

It was one of three programs run by Teletech, a US-owned firm located in Duncairn Gardens in the city, which will remain open.

The 197 employees received notice that their jobs will be ending between 24 May and 23 July.

A company representative said they are looking for other business opportunities but have not identified any at this time.

Speaking to UTV on Thursday, Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster said: "Invest NI are having discussions with the management of TeleTech just to establish first of all the scale of the issue involved and also to establish what we can do to assist those who are at risk of losing their jobs so it's a continuing issue and we're keeping an eye on it."
