The company is planning to remove the retail mortgage and private banking operations from the site.

Lloyds will continue to operate its customer support call centre from the Gas Works site.

It is understood that the jobs under threat are mostly management positions.

The company explained that the figure of 80 jobs under threat in Belfast is part of the larger number of 15,000 redundancies across the entire group operations which were announced in June 2011.

The company said it is looking to redeploy people at this stage and that it is not yet clear whether voluntary of compulsory redundancies would be necessary.

Well heard that there may be some rumours that because of redeployment bank has flushed 80 mill because of a mistake they made in new system. So they are covering it by relocating. Watch this space!
