The 24-year-old has since been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.

Of the 40 arrests, 29 have been charged. A further four have been reported to the PPS, six have been released on bail and one is still being questioned.

A total of 29 police officers have been injured during outbreaks of disorder across Northern Ireland.

Meanwhile, a tenth night of protests over the restriction of the flying of the Union flag at Belfast City Hall caused traffic disruption across parts of Belfast on Wednesday evening.

Among the areas affected were the Albertbridge Road in the east of the city and the Ormeau Road in the south, with long delays caused.

According to police, all affected areas have since re-opened.

More protests are understood to be planned across Northern Ireland, and in parts of Scotland and England, in the coming days.

Incase you didnt realise, Sinn Feinn voted to have the flag flying on certain days as a COMPROMISE, that is how adults behave in the 21st century, its a shared nation. In order for this country to move forward Sinn Feinn took the higher ground. Your own politicians r telling u to stop protesting like stubborn children, so stop all this, its Christmas, your just damaging ur own economy.

So Leah, one should show one's Britisnness by blocking the queens highways, breaking her law, trying to kill a member of her police and let's not forget, insulting her flag that you are demandind to be flown! Makes a lot of sense!
