Ella Henderson progressed to the Judges' Houses stage of the TV talent show on Sunday after giving a slowed down version of the 1998 hit.
It moved Nicole Scherzinger to tears - and as if that wasn't enough, the 16-year-old has now won the admiration of Cher herself.
"Went on YouTube to see young girl sing Believe!" tweeted the singer.
"Tears came to my eyes! So touching! A great version of a great song. We can share it!"
Ella was left "pinching herself" when she read what Cher had to say.
She said: "I'm still pinching myself! To have the ACTUAL Cher tweet that she'd seen my performance was mind-blowing. I've been smiling all day. It is quite frankly UNBELIEVABLE! I can't believe she cried."
The X Factor judges were blown away by Ella's performance at Boot Camp.
The teen explained: "I wanted to challenge myself a bit more and pick a song that was completely out of the box and out of my comfort zone."
A tearful Nicole said: "You can't judge that you just have to be honoured.
"We can't touch her, we just have to be in awe of her. I'm done."
Meanwhile Gary Barlow said he now sees the song Believe in a new light.
He said: "I've got to say, when I read you were going to sing that song, if I was going to have a top five of the most annoying songs of all time, that would come fairly close to the top for me."
"But today I would pay lots of money to hear that version of the song again. That was amazing, well done."
