After striking up a friendship with Steve, viewers were soon aware that Andrea wanted to be more than just friends.
So with Michelle in the background casting a suspicious eye on her, Andrea started dating Steve's best friend Lloyd Mullaney - but is she fooling anyone?
Speaking to This Morning, actress Hayley Tamaddon admitted: "She's a bit feisty!
"I think Steve kind of thinks that he's got a mate in Andrea that he can have a beer with and she's dead cool.
"But she really has taken a liking to him and she fancies him quite a lot.
"She has set herself (the challenge) to get Steve and she's not going to stop until she does."
The actress added: "Poor Lloyd - he has really fallen for Andrea and there is going to be some nice stuff actually with both those characters, but I don't think she ever takes her eye off the ball.
"To get to Steve I think she thinks she should go through Lloyd."
Since joining the soap Hayley has been asked to stay longer than the six months she initially signed up for and she admits she is "gobsmacked" to be a part of team Corrie.
"I'm still pinching myself that I am in it," she said. "I go into work and I look in the green room and there's Barbara Knox (Rita Tanner), Simon Gregson (Steve McDonald) and Beverley Callard (Liz McDonald) and I'm like "I work with these people!"
But it is a very busy time for Hayley as she is also currently taking part in the final series of Dancing On Ice.
She explained that she almost didn't audition for the role of Andrea because she had already signed up for the popular ice skating show.
"I actually said to my agent "Is there any point in even going for the audition?" because I thought once they found out about Dancing On Ice I was sure they would give the part to someone else.
"And he said "We'll never know, just go along and meet them".
"And it just slotted into place - it was amazing.
"They have been so overly helpful, both Dancing On Ice and Coronation Street have come together to really help me make it work.
"I eat at least one meal a day on a train! It's crazy but I think I'm thriving off the energy of it and I absolutely love both jobs so much.
"I'm not really bothered that I'm tired."
