The news was announced by the X Factor team on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.
They said: "Lucy will proceed to next weekend's show."
The decision to rest the singer-songwriter is causing controversy among Twitter users after two sick X Factor contestants performed last week.
Last Saturday fellow girl Jade Ellis sang after spending most of the week in silence in a bid to heal her inflamed vocal cords - with Judge Louis Walsh telling her the lacklustre performance could mark the end of her X Factor journey.
"You didn't sing like a superstar, I know you had a bad week but there was no energy. There was no great passion. I think you could be at risk," he said.
The following night, Kye Sones sang for survival with the flu.
Introducing his act, worried mentor Gary Barlow told viewers: "I'm not sure what's about to happen. Kye has had flu all week. He got through last night. He didn't have a voice this morning."
Earlier this week, Lucy was pictured attending fellow contestant Rylan Clark's birthday bash at Mahiki nightclub in London.
The All Hallows Eve-themed party, which took place on Wednesday night, was attended by the contestants and judges Nicole Scherzinger and Tulisa.
Nicole stunned revellers by bursting out of a giant cake in a saucy red and black corset, leather gloves and fishnet tights to sing Happy Birthday to the 24-year-old act she mentors on the show.
She posed for photos with Tulisa, who was dressed as a vampire French maid and pretended to bite the ex-Pussycat Dolls beauty's neck.
Before the party, Lucy tweeted: "Soooo excited for @rylanclark's birthday party tonight! I have my costume sorted and I'm ready to rock! #SPRYLAN"
