The former N-Dubz star appeared on morning show Daybreak on UTV to perform his latest solo single, but faced criticisms over accusations he mimed throughout the performance.
Dappy has now insisted he was too sick to sing live and performed with the help of a backing track as he battled illness.
In a series of posts on Twitter, he writes: "Sorry guys my throat was destroyed today... U (sic) know me singing live is my favourite, unfortunately 2day (sic) I had to blend in over track... Didn't want to let everyone down so I still came on the show feeling bad."
