Dancing On Ice host Phillip Schofield has been taking a trip down memory lane and reminiscing about his most memorable moments from the past nine years, ahead of this weekend's final.

The celebrities, the professional skaters and the judges may have changed faces throughout show's run, but along with Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean, Phillip has remained a constant figure during the Sunday night entertainment programme.

And he has admitted that former EastEnders star Todd Carty's unstoppable skate down through the studio's ice tunnel was one of his funniest moments.

Phillip said: "I could go for Todd Carty because that's been one of our most favourite moments ever and it was the fact that (former Dancing On Ice commentator) Tony Gubba, bless him, it made him laugh.

"And he was such a professional commentator, that he would never laugh and the fact that he started to laugh was what got me."

It's a hard job being a presenter on a live television programme, but Phillip explained how he thrives off the drama of it all.

He said: "(I love) the unpredictability, the fact that you've got to start papering over fairly big cracks.

"So the fun part and the drama part is what is Dancing On Ice."

This week sees the last ever final of Dancing On Ice, with actor Ray Quinn, Olympic gymnast Beth Tweddle and Coronation Street actress Hayley Tamaddon all vying for the 'champion of champions' title.

And while the final is sure to provide some memorable moments of its own, Philip has his own particular favourite.

"A memorable final was watching Suzanne (Shaw) who was so beautiful," he said. "I'm gutted we lost her so early (this year) - but she was such a beautiful skater.

"She was so elegant and gorgeous."

The Dancing On Ice final airs on UTV on Sunday from 7pm.
