Singer Robbie Williams dashed to hospital to witness the birth of his daughter on Tuesday after his expectant wife went into early labour.

Robbie Williams' baby arrived early

The pop star became a first-time dad to Theodora Rose after Ayda Field went into labour eight days early and was admitted to the Portland Hospital in London.

Williams revealed he was worried about an early delivery at his gig in Dublin on Friday, admitting he had a jet on standby - just in case his wife, who was diagnosed with gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, went into labour during the show.

And he told fans: "We thought the baby was going to have to be induced today."

Praise be, it's Theodora Rose Williams, affectionately known as Teddy... Born 3.33pm on 18.9.12, 7lbs 4oz… Baby, mummy and daddy are all rockin...

The new arrival is the first child for overjoyed Williams and Field, who have since been flooded with well wishes from friends, family and fans.

In a post on Twitter, Boyzone star Ronan Keating writes: "Congrats to Robbie Williams and Ayda," while Williams' pal and former Take That bandmate Gary Barlow writes: "Massive congrats Rob and Ayda. So happy for you."

Barlow and his wife Dawn suffered a baby tragedy last month when their fourth child, a little girl, was delivered stillborn.
