"It's going to be the 10th series, all in all since I started, and I think we should go on a high," he told Phillip and Holly.
Peter has allowed TV cameras to capture numerous private moments throughout the years, including his marriage and break-up from model Katie Price, and the tragic death of his brother Andrew last year.
But he is adamant that now is the time to move on.
"The ratings have been amazing - last series was the highest ratings we ever had and I thought we should leave it on a high and bow out gracefully - I can always revisit it in a few years if I want to.
"There are opportunities overseas that I haven't been able to do and I want to do more presenting."
The TV star is now set to present the new series of Peter Andre's 60 Minute Makeover as well as getting ready to become a father for the third time.
His girlfriend of 12 months Emily MacDonagh recently announced they are having a baby early next year.
Peter was asked if his decision to close the doors to the TV cameras was down to Emily.
"Maybe she's mentioned it a couple of times but it's not about that," he replied.
"(I am) with someone who is a lot more private, I can't ask for privacy when I am in this industry, but I have to respect this other person.
"But I do honestly think we have done (enough).
"It has been amazing, the public has been amazing, and I would hate it for the ratings to start sliding and then I would have to stop."
