Tinie Tempah praised Jade Collins’ “raw talent” after the Belfast teen belted out 'It Must Have Been Love' by Roxette in a bid to earn her place in this year's X Factor live shows.

The 17-year-old travelled to Saint Lucia with fellow contestants Jade Ellis, Ella Henderson, Amy Mottram, Leanne Robinson and Lucy Spraggan.

There the girls met mentor Tulisa, who arrived on the beach by speedboat, and guest judge Tinie.

"I've just met two celebrities at the one time; it was class!" said the student, who is facing fierce competition in her category.

Jade was shaking after her performance. She admitted: "I never thought I would get this far and now I'm here, I can't believe it."

Tinie told Tulisa: "I think she was good" - but the X Factor judge asked: "Is that enough to stand up against some of the girls with much more powerful voices?"

Earlier Tinie told the contestants: "This is not gonna be easy; there are so many incredible female artists in the UK at the moment, Tulisa being one of them, but I do feel like there's space for one or two more so hopefully we can find that here over the next couple of days."

Two girls made a big impression, moving Tulisa close to tears. Amy sang Read All About It by Emeli Sande and Ella delivered her rendition of I Won't Give Up by Jason Mraz.

"I'm welling up under my shades. She has got so much soul for somebody so young," Tulisa said of Amy, while Tinie enthused about Ella: "She is so good!"

Front-runner Lucy, who received a standing ovation from the judges at bootcamp when she performed her own song 'Tea and Toast' could be in trouble after singing I Will Always Love You by Whitney Houston.

"I don't know. It's such a big song to sing," Tinie said.

Tulisa added: "There's vocals that are just amazing here today and then she comes on and what she does is so much more simple but it's that thing isn't it, she has her niche and does the niche stand up to the big voices?"

Meanwhile, former X Factor judge Cheryl Cole made her highly anticipated return to the show as a guest mentor to help Gary Barlow in the Overs category in Northamptonshire.

Cheryl told the contestants: "I've been there and I have been here so I know how you are all feeling, I am just excited to see what you have got.

"Think it's going to be amazing and I wish you the best of luck from the bottom of my heart."

"She is amazing that has completely blown us all away," Melanie Masson said.

Other guest mentors are Ne-Yo who accompanies Nicole Scherzinger and Sharon Osbourne who is the sidekick to Louis Walsh.

Viewers will find out on Sunday night who has made it through to the live shows when the judges reveal the three acts they have chosen to take through.
