Instead of helping the others to tidy, the former Corrie actress applied another layer of fake tan and ended up extremely brown with her face darker than her body.
"I like to put a bit of fake tan on and I wish the other camp mates would loosen me a bit of stick, I'm not doing anyone any harm, I'm just applying a fake tan," she told the Bush Telegraph.
Some of the campmates were amused by her efforts, Charlie describing her as an "oompa loompa".
Helen admitted at home she pays for a top up spray tan every two nights and had never learnt how to do her own hair.
She said: "I've never learned to blow dry my own hair. When I used to work on Coronation Street I used to go into make up in the morning and have my hair blow dried and so now I prefer other people to do it."
But former world darts champion Eric Bristow was unimpressed, commenting that "she lives a different life from everyone back home".
He told her she wasn't "very independent".
"I'm really independent, I just prefer other people to do it, it is independent and if you can afford to pay for it then that's fine," Helen responded.
Eric replied: "Well I hope you carry on earning money then girl."
An offended Helen told him: "You are saying that I'm not independent when I'm really independent, I just like having my hair blow dried. It doesn't mean I'm a spoilt cow. "
"Ooh don't put words into my mouth," said Eric, "You aren't independent if you can't dry your own hair."
Sticking up for herself Helen said: "Honestly mind your own business, you are such a strange creature, you are such a strange specimen, honestly such a strange cretin, honesty bore off."
Later she said: "We're friends really aren't we Eric?"
But he told her:"We're just companions in the jungle, we're not friends."
