It marks ten years since Derry-born Nadine Coyle, Cheryl Cole, Kimberly Walsh, Sarah Harding and Nicola Roberts were put together by the talent show Popstars: The Rivals, which aired on UTV.

Fans screamed as the band performed their biggest hits from their glittering career.

This included Sound Of The Underground, Jump and The Promise.

Before the show Geordie Cheryl Cole tweeted: "Showtime!!! BELFAST!!"

Touring is the best thing about what we do full-stop.

The group last played in Northern Ireland over three years ago before taking a break.

They reunited in 2012, releasing their greatest hits album and announcing their tour.

Speaking about touring again Cheryl said: "Touring is the best thing about what we do full-stop so to be able to go out and just say thank you to the fans for 10 years of support that is a special feeling."

The band were set to play in Dublin on St Patrick's Day but had to cancel the show, blaming unforeseen transportation problems.

The concert has not been rescheduled.

A statement from The O2 venue and promoters MCD said: "Unfortunately, due to unforeseen time restraints with the transportation of production equipment between the Irish & UK tour dates, the extra Girls Aloud concert added on Sunday 17th March 2013 at The O2 has been cancelled. Due to tour routing it has not been possible to reschedule this date.

"Girls Aloud, The O2 & Promoters apologise to fans for any inconvenience caused."
